If you’ve spent any time in South Carolina, you know Senator Lindsey Graham’s public life has played out like a long-running episode of Everybody Knows But Lindsey. His glass closet door has been rattled plenty over the years, but this week it was flung wide open by Republican firebrand Laura Loomer, who testified under oath that “Several of President Trump’s staff have told me in confidence that Lindsey Graham is gay.” Pressed afterward to clarify her remarks, Loomer doubled down: “I was under oath. I couldn’t lie.” The moment was less a revelation than a reminder—one more entry in the well-worn catalog of whispers that seem to follow Graham like an uninvited plus-one.
It’s hardly a plot twist for those of us who’ve been tracking the senator’s career over the years. As a gay man who spent four years in California between 2009 and 2012, I can attest that Lindsey Graham’s reputation was already well cemented in West Hollywood long before I set foot on Santa Monica Boulevard. The stories floated around like cigarette smoke in a bar—everybody caught a whiff, whether they wanted it or not. And yet, somehow, Graham has managed to keep that closet door clinging to its hinges, even as members of his own party have started pounding on it with a battering ram.
Whispers about Lindsey Graham’s alleged homosexual escapades have been bouncing around Washington, D.C., and the gay community for decades. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill “bachelor senator” rumors reserved for unmarried politicians—they’re oddly specific, suspiciously detailed, and, in some cases, burned into our collective memory. In Dupont Circle—D.C.’s premier gay neighborhood—he’s long been known by the moniker “Lady G,” a nickname that rocketed to viral infamy when adult film actor Sean Harding publicly accused the senator of hiring male sex workers.
And then there’s the legend of Lindsey Graham’s “little ladybugs”—a tale so lewd it could only have crawled straight out of the world of prostitution. Multiple male sex workers have claimed the senator refers to a cluster of moles near his genitals as his “little ladybugs.” Yes, you read that correctly. The mental image alone is enough to make you want to bathe in bleach. Mercifully, there are no photos or video—just the kind of sordid folklore you wish you could unhear, yet it clings to the mind like the world’s worst earworm.
This cycle of rumor and ridicule might be easier to dismiss if Graham hadn’t spent much of his career thumbing his nose at the gay community. For years, he opposed equality for gays and lesbians—only to pull a political about-face in 2024 by suddenly embracing same-sex marriage. All the while, he’s cultivated a hawkish foreign-policy persona, forever ready to bomb a foreign country at the drop of a hat. It’s as if every drone strike and saber-rattle has been part of an elaborate, testosterone-soaked smokescreen, meant to obscure quieter truths he’s never had the courage to admit in public.
If Graham were to come out now, it’s hard to picture him finding a warm welcome anywhere. His Republican base might not all care that he’s gay, but plenty would care that he spent decades lying about it. And the gay community? Let’s just say the reception wouldn’t be a rainbow-colored embrace. After years of hostile policy, he wouldn’t get a redemption arc—he’d get side-eye, shade, and the cold shoulder. In trying to keep a foot in two worlds, Graham has all but ensured he’s standing alone in the no-man’s-land between them.
Of course, every allegation remains just that—a rumor. Persistent, detailed, and widely believed rumor. Now, however, it’s a rumor that has been voiced under oath. The only question left is whether Lindsey Graham will address the claims head-on, or let them drift into the background noise, as he’s done before.

Why would Laura Loomer have to "testify" about Lindsey Graham being gay? I really don't care if he's gay! What I care about is that the man speaks with a forked tongue and votes to hurl bombs everywhere. He's a slimy little sycophant.
I am not interested in Grahams sex life, however, I am in his obsessive love of war. His solution to all things diplomatic seems to be war.
For the sake of humanity he needs to be voted out of office.
